Chapter 1987: The Situation Changes!
Chapter 1987: The Situation Changes!
Startled cries rang out. Even the Master Gods’ expressions shifted.
Su Yi’s strength had more than doubled since they’d chased him here!
When the Angler’s avatar of will chased him, Su Yi drew on the Sword of the Nine Hells with all his might, and even then, he only just barely managed to defend himself.
Now that he’d broken through, he could break the joint attack of dozens of Master Gods’ avatars of will!
At the same time, over a hundred other gods attacked, their treasures whooshing through the air and their secret arts creating all manner of startling phenomena. All of them descended upon Su Yi.
The sound and momentum were terrifying.
After all, this was the Epoch Battlefield. Both the Master Gods and the other gods’ avatars of will were limited to the Lesser God level.
When over one hundred gods attacked together, their combined power was enough to force even a Master God to retreat! Not even they would dare face such an onslaught head-on!
But this time, Su Yi didn’t clash with them head-on. His eyes flashed like cold lightning and he shot through the air, sword swinging, his sword qi cleaving through everything in its path as if it were made of rotten wood. It ripped the sky to shreds and tore through the hundred-plus gods’ ranks.
Then, he rushed into the fray, like a tiger charging into a wolf pack, and the slaughter began.“Die!” Su Yi swung his sword, and tyrannical chaos sword qi shot forth. The six divine avatars closest to him shattered like fireworks and dispersed in a rain of light.
“Get him!” The gods charged ferociously, only to strike nothing but air. Su Yi had vanished, and was now off killing other people somewhere else.
He struck like lightning, as swift as if he were teleporting.
“Die!” He suddenly appeared before a group of about ten deities, then charged in. Sword qi whooshed around him, humming and clanging.
Startled cries and terrified shrieks filled the air.
The numerous gods’ ranks scattered, and several of them died brutal deaths, their avatars of will reduced to ash.
Boom!
Su Yi, meanwhile, had already reappeared somewhere else and resumed the slaughter.
He was far too domineering, his tall, upright figure like a sharp, unstoppable knife. He attacked suddenly, and left just as suddenly, tearing through the enemies’ ranks again and again and again. No one could pin him down.
Throughout this process, one divine avatar of will shattered after another.
Desperate cries shook the heavens, rising and falling in waves.
The ten or so Master Gods were in no way bystanders. They were attacking this entire time, but Su Yi had thrown the situation into chaos!
He never clashed with the Master Gods head-on. Every time they attacked, he used the battlefield’s ever-shifting conditions to slip away.
His cultivation base had not yet stabilized. A direct confrontation risked shaking his foundations in the Grand Dao and putting him at a disadvantage.
He had to buy the time he needed to stabilize it. Once his cultivation base had fully stabilized, it would be time to cut every last one of his enemies down.
“Die!”
Sword qi criss-crossed through the air.
Su Yi’s once-blue robes were now battered and completely drenched with blood from the prior chase, but they did nothing to obscure his astonishing, unparalleled combat strength.
The mysteries of reincarnation cycled around his tall, upright figure. With every slash, inscrutable, mysterious visions of reincarnation appeared with unbelievable, domineering force.
From beginning to end, no one could hold him back. Within moments, thirty divine avatars of will had been destroyed!
“How is this possible?” a divine avatar cried out in alarm, his courage breaking.
“How… How could he be this strong?” another deity’s expression filled with dread and unease.
“Hurry up and hide!” someone roared.
The battlefield was instantly in chaos. Su Yi had single-handedly plunged it into disarray!
Feng Wuji watched this all play out from afar, chills coursing down his spine as his heart quivered violently in his chest. Just as I thought. Not just anyone can kill that Su guy!
Inwardly, he celebrated that he’d seized the opportunity to make his position clear earlier. If he hadn’t… he would have met a brutal end!
Divine Venerate Xi Yue was similarly astonished.
She stood there in a daze, the rims of her eyes red and her cheeks streaked with tears as she murmured, “Even if you were stronger, what of it? A’Ning is dead… and she’ll never come back….”
The battle raged on beneath the dome of heaven, and the gods’ roars rang out without end, but they were intermingled with cries of agony.
“Shit!” Huo Jianfeng visibly lost his composure; he could sense that Su Yi was headed his way.
He dodged, not daring to hesitate in the slightest.
But Su Yi was just too quick, and he broke everything in his path with unstoppable momentum, cutting down the three divine avatars who tried to intercept him. His murderous intent was monstrous to behold.
Earlier, it was Huo Jianfeng who’d ambushed him, making Xi Ning so worried for his safety that she’d defended him with her body, leading to her death. How could Su Yi possibly have forgotten?
He’d never felt such hatred or fury in this lifetime!
Especially when he saw Xi Ning sprawled out limply in his arms in a pool of her own blood. Su Yi lost control of his emotions, and his fury bordered on madness!
Now, it was time to avenge Xi Ning. Huo Jianfeng had to die!
The depths of his profound gaze burned with hatred and murderous intent. His sheer momentum was enough to intimidate Huo Jianfeng so badly that his soul practically left his body.
“Ancestor, save me——!” Huo Jianfeng shrieked.
He was an unparalleled divine son of the Three Purities Daoist Court, and he’d only recently refined a supreme Epoch Fragment and achieved divinity. This should have been his proudest, strongest moment.
But in the face of Su Yi’s charge, he was visibly overcome with terror!!
“Go!” A wooden sword appeared out of nowhere and slashed at Su Yi.
Master God Yun He rushed over just in time and attacked Su Yi. He slashed with his wooden sword, creating a fierce gale of wind and blast of lightning. Together, they formed a terrifying barrier of the Dao of the Sword that locked down the surrounding skies.
The power of his Dao of the Sword was wondrous to the extreme and forceful as could be.
Su Yi didn’t even look at it. He just furiously swung his sword.
Boom!!
An endless Sea of Bitterness surged forth and collapsed the sky. Master God Yun He’s attack broke.
Even his wooden sword was sent flying!
Master God Yun He’s expression shifted, and his voice boomed like spring thunder as he held out his hands, palms out, and lifted them into the air.
Boom!
An all-encompassing dense sword curtain appeared. It was full of the terrifying power of the natural order.
This was obviously a wondrous defensive secret technique, but when Su Yi swung the Sword of Proximity, it shattered in a single blow!
A rain of light scattered, and the seemingly youthful Master God Yun He was sent flying backward.
Still, this attempt at interception gave the other Master Gods the opportunity they needed to swoop in from other angles. If Su Yi neither dodged nor fled, he was sure to be surrounded on all sides!
Master God Yun He inwardly sighed in relief. Huo Jianfeng was one of the Three Purities Daoist Court’s Four Sons of the Dao, and he’d recently refined a supreme Epoch Fragment and achieved divinity. He had the potential to one day reach the Undying Realm and become a Master God!
So long as he protected Huo Jianfeng’s life, it would be fine even if his avatar of will was destroyed.
But then, something Master God Yun He couldn’t have anticipated happened.
This time, Su Yi didn’t dodge!
He disregarded the other Master Gods’ encirclement and went straight for Huo Jianfeng.
Huo Jianfeng’s eyes widened, and his heart was overwhelmed with terror. He would never have guessed that Su Yi could break even Master God Yun He’s attacks, much less that he would go all out like this!
“No——!” Huo Jianfeng cried out in terror and poured all of his power into his defenses, going so far as to use a forbidden technique that damaged his cultivation base.
But to Su Yi, he was no different from a mantis trying to block a chariot.
Boom!
A single slash shattered Huo Jianfeng’s defenses as if they were made of paper. Terrifying sword qi crashed into him, slicing him into countless fine, bloody chunks.
Destroyed, body and soul!
In the last moments before his death, bitterness was written all over the unparalleled divine son’s face.
But to Su Yi, killing Huo Jianfeng was far from enough to vent the hatred and fury filling his chest.
“Bastard!!” Master God Yun He roared in fury.
Huo Jianfeng’s death utterly enraged this long-established hegemon. His face was ashen and contorted with anger.
Huo Jianfeng had had the potential to one day become a Master God in his own right. Such talents might not appear even once in millions of years. Moreover, the Three Purities Daoist Court had poured an immense amount of effort and cultivation resources into training him.
But now, he was dead. Of course Master God Yun He was furious!
“Die, heretic!”
Practically simultaneously, over a dozen Master Gods surrounded Su Yi, sealing off all possible escape routes. All of them attacked with all their might.
Boom!
Heaven and earth were overturned as divine radiance ran rampant.
This encirclement was far from comparable to the last. The Master Gods attacked like mad, using every method at their disposal. Their combined power was terrifying beyond imagination.
The sight left the other gods unwittingly terrified, and they instinctively moved further away for fear of being swept into it.
Even Su Yi felt immense pressure bearing down on him. He couldn’t dodge. He could only face it head-on.
But his Great Profound Stage cultivation base was still unstable. If he met their attacks head-on, the impact was likely to permanently damage his foundations and affect his future cultivation!
But Su Yi didn’t panic.
“Do it, Sixth Brother Book!” he bellowed.
His voice had only just boomed through the air when he charged at the Dipankara Buddha, sword swinging.
Boom!
Practically simultaneously, bright red karmic power erupted around the Dipankara Buddha, like endless streaks of blood-red lightning, and slammed into the Buddha’s avatar of will.
Had this happened at any ordinary moment, the Dipankara Buddha could have resolved it with ease.
But this was different. He was doing his utmost to defeat Su Yi when this development caught him off guard, and he staggered back on impact.
Su Yi seized the opportunity to attack.
The Sword of Proximity rumbled and boomed as he displayed the mysteries of a Moment of Silence. Sword light flashed through the air.
Boom!!
The Dipankara Buddha let out a muffled grunt as one of his arms flew through the air, and he toppled over backward.
Meanwhile, Su Yi seized the opportunity to charge out of his encirclement!
Over a dozen Master Gods’ attacks hit nothing but air.
He did this all in one smooth series of movements, practically instantaneously, so quick that it was unbelievable.
And at the critical juncture of breaking through his enemies’ encirclement, the Book of Karma the Dipankara Buddha had acquired lashed out. The Master Gods could never have anticipated this.
When they realized what had happened, the Master Gods glared furiously at the Dipankara Buddha. This was a perfect opportunity, but now, it’s slipped through our fingers!
Only the Angler celebrated inwardly. He even felt the urge to laugh.
When he chased Su Yi earlier, his attempts to seize the Book of Karma left him so enraged that he almost coughed up blood. In the end, he had no choice but to lower his head and compromise with the Dipankara Buddha.
Who’d have thought the Book of Karma was actually a hot potato? It caught the Dipankara Buddha off guard, and now, he was the target of the others’ anger!
What do you think?
